Lovie gets two-year extension
The Chicago Bears have given head coach Lovie Smith a two-year contract extension after guiding them to the NFC North title.
The new deal keeps Smith as the head coach through 2013 and from being a lame duck next year.
Smith’s team also reached the NFC championship game, ironically losing to a team in their own division.
In his short time with the Bears, Smith has guided the Bears to two NFC championship appearances and one Super Bowl appearance.
Love said he felt great about the extension, just like he feels every other day on the job with the Bears.
